Despite it being dad’s birthday, Sasha Obama and mom Michelle hopped across the pond on Wednesday, August 4 for a quick girls’ trip to Marbella, located along the chic Spanish Riviera. Described as a private trip, the pair enjoyed a five day getaway at the ritzy Hotel Villa Padierna.
Situated in the hills surrounding Marbella, the Hotel Villa Padierna boasts spectacular costal views that offer a glimpse of Africa on a clear day. Ranked number four out of 79 hotels in Marbella, Hotel Villa Padierna earned an 86 percent approval rating from TripAdvisor travelers, including member Jonelaine, who described it as, “the place to stay in Costa del Sol.”
Featuring a variety of room price points from $244-$2,500, accommodations range from deluxe standard rooms with balconies, to gorgeous Tuscan-inspired villas with private pools. This opulent retreat also affords guests five dining options, from fine cuisine to more casual fare, and access to the on-site Thermae Spa. According to TripAdvisor member aleida1004, the Hotel Villa Padierna is, “Suitable for royalty…It is like a palace complete with statues, marble floors, and royal grounds.”
While in the area, the First duo also reportedly visited the historic city of Grenada, home to The Alhambra Palace, the number one attraction in Grenada on TripAdvisor. No word on what President Obama thinks of missing out on the trip, but we’re guessing that he faired ok between his birthday dinner with friends in Chicago and Sunday’s all-star presidential pickup basketball game at Fort McNair.
