#AskSteve Day One – Questions & Answers

Thanks to everyone who submitted questions during the last couple of days on Twitter and here on the TripAdvisor blog. The following are the first two I’ll be answering, sent in by @RobertKCole and @davidecorradi:

Q: @RobertKCole – How is @google forcing Trip Advisor to allow reviews to be included in Google Places? #AskSteve

A: Google has advised that if we want to stop content from appearing on Google Places we would have to reduce/stop Google’s ability to scan the TripAdvisor site.  Needless to say, this would have a significant impact on TripAdvisor’s ranking on natural search queries through Google, the dominant search engine in the world which the vast majority of popular websites must rely on.

Q: @davidecorradi – #AskSteve Straight to the point: is Google Places the first step towards Google selling Hotel rooms online? #AskSteve

A: You’d have to ask Google.

More questions and answers tomorrow, so stay tuned.

Steve
