Ah, Europe. Whether you’re drawn in by the food, the history or the opportunity to experience many different cultures and settings, visiting Europe is high on many people’s travel to-do list. We recently asked TripAdvisor travelers for their thoughts on jetting to Europe as part of our annual European travel survey, and the results showed that Americans are eager to cross the pond and more. In fact, 51 percent of respondents said they will be taking trips to Europe in 2011, up nine percent from last year, with the top five European cities listed as: 1. London, U.K., 2. Paris, France, 3. Rome, Italy, 4. Barcelona, Spain, and 5. Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Other interesting findings include:
- 54 percent of Americans planning to visit Europe will travel in September or October.
- 73 percent make an effort to speak the local language in Europe, when it isn’t their mother tongue.
- 90 percent of those who have visited Europe are experimental in their choices of local cuisine.
- 53 percent alter the way they dress in Europe, to appear less “American.”
