Meet Jenny Rushmore, TripAdvisor’s Director of Responsible Travel

TripAdvisor's new director of responsible travel, Jenny Rushmore

As we continue to explore our amazing world, travelers and business owners alike are realizing how important it is to make smart decisions that can help save the planet. In fact, recent TripAdvisor research highlighted the importance of sustainability both to consumers and the travel trade: a 2011 survey revealed that 70% of property owners plan to offer programs to reduce their environmental impact*, while 47% of travelers say they take eco-friendly factors into consideration in their travel plans**.

To help these efforts, we’re excited to announce that Jenny Rushmore has recently joined the TripAdvisor family as our new director of responsible travel. In this newly-created role, Jenny will work to make environmentally-responsible travel more accessible to consumers, ultimately helping even more travelers to plan and have the perfect trip.

Jenny brings a wealth of relevant experience to her position. Before joining TripAdvisor, she held the role of global sustainability leader for the beauty and grooming business unit at Procter & Gamble. There, Jenny built the sustainability program from the ground up, working with key industry stakeholders and achieving outstanding results. Prior to her time at Procter & Gamble, Jenny held several senior positions in brand management, including the role of global brand manager for Gillette Venus.

Welcome to the TripAdvisor team, Jenny!

    Hi TripAdvisor!

I am looking for ways to get involved with this new initiative at the Newton office of TripAdvisor. What is the best way to connect with the people in charge of this new team?

Thank you for your follow up note, Amanda. This is a very forward-thinking and socially responsible direction for TripAdvisor and I would love to learn more about the action plan and how to get involved. Responsible Travel is not only what TripAdvisors’ customers and service-providers want, it is precisely what the broader tourism industry needs. I think this is exactly the type of intiative that makes TripAdvisor an industry leader and I hope that where TripAdvisor leads, others will soon follow.

        Best,
        Tom
